A milestone that highlights Sri Lanka’s resurgence as a premier travel destination
Sri Lanka marked a historic moment on November 17, 2025, as the country welcomed its two millionth visitor, underscoring growing confidence in its tourism sector. This milestone highlighted the island’s enduring appeal, from pristine beaches and lush mountains to rich cultural heritage and diverse wildlife.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) credited global marketing efforts and participation in travel fairs such as the World Travel Market and IFTM Top Resa for helping attract visitors. Digital campaigns further enhanced awareness, connecting leisure and business travellers to Sri Lanka’s offerings.
Tourists enjoyed a variety of experiences, from UNESCO World Heritage sites to eco-tourism and wildlife safaris. Popular destinations like Cinnamon Bentota Beach and other coastal retreats exemplified the island’s scenic charm. Guests also benefitted from accommodations ranging from boutique stays to a Sri Lanka luxury resort experience, reflecting the country’s growing hospitality standards.
With continued investment in tourism infrastructure, Sri Lanka remains poised for further growth in arrivals.
