A resilient island charts a confident course toward tourism growth
Sri Lanka has announced an ambitious target of welcoming 3 million international visitors in 2026, signalling a strong push to revitalise tourism following the impact of Cyclone Ditwah in late 2025. With arrivals reaching 2.36 million in 2025 despite disruptions, authorities are positioning the sector as a key driver of economic recovery.
Sri Lankan Airlines is strengthening connectivity to major source markets, including India, the UK, and Russia, while enhancing passenger services to accommodate anticipated demand. Increased frequencies and improved links are expected to support smoother access to the island.
At the same time, the hospitality industry—from established brands such as Mandara Hotels & Resorts to other leading luxury hotels in Sri Lanka—is preparing for higher occupancy levels. Expanded capacity and upgraded experiences aim to meet the expectations of global travellers as the country advances toward a renewed era of tourism growth in 2026.
