Sri Lanka Targets Middle East as a Key Market for Tourism – Exploring New Horizons in Tourism

Sri Lanka has made great improvement in its travel and tourism sector post-COVID and had discussions in May to target the Middle East as a key market for tourism, mainly focusing on expatriates and Emiratis with luxury lifestyles. Udaya Indrathna, the ambassador of the Sri Lankan embassy in Abu Dhabi spoke at the Arabian Travel Market and mentioned how they plan to unfold the new chapter of tourism.

Statistics show that Emiratis from the Middle East stay up to two weeks in luxury accommodations and expats from 4-5 days on average. Targeting this region will bring more bookings and revenue to luxury hotels in Colombo City and other popular tourist destinations. Hotels like Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo are surely getting ready for this refreshing challenge ahead of them.
