Sri Lanka to be named among globally important agricultural heritage sites – An iconic move forward

For more than a few hundred years now, Sri Lanka has become what it is now thanks to the farmers, fishers, forest people, and herders who did their jobs with utmost dedication and love. The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations announced that Sri Lanka will also now be a part of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems. With tourism seeing the best of the times in the country, with Kandy to Mirissa hotels the likes of Esprit d’Ici Hotel, this is good news for the country on the whole. The system in Sri Lanka will be given certifications and more, while the United Nations recognize new ways to make the agriculture here better.
