Sri Lanka Tourism Gets a Boost from BBC

Broadcaster Launches Ad Campaign

As reported in an online article in July by the Daily News, the BBC extended its support to the country through a destination marketing campaign; this no-cost partnership between the UK broadcaster and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau featured 30-second commercials with total coverage of 375 spots. They were aired for a month on digital and TV news feeds of the BBC network covering Europe, Asia Pacific, South Asia, North America and the Middle East.

This was a significant boost to the local tourism industry which is looking to bounce back after the setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country has been relatively successful in containing the virus while keeping with strict health and safety protocols. Once the airport opens, travellers who arrive will have much to discover; Sri Lanka has attractions across the island, while car rental specialists the likes of Malkey Rent A Car offer ideal options to travel to each destination.
