In a move to promote the country abroad, Sri Lanka Tourism recently held several travel industry roadshows in Australia. These events took place in key Australian destinations namely Perth, Melbourne and Sydney on 20th, 23rd and 27th November respectively. The purpose of the roadshows was to develop tourist arrivals and to meet this end many tour operators, travel agents and media organisations from Australia were invited to attend. Rich in cultural and natural heritage, Sri Lanka has been steadily developing its tourism industry as more and more properties are being set up around the island be it Hikkaduwa resorts in the south coast or Passikudah hotels on the east coast such as Amethyst Resort. It is hoped that these roadshows which provided a valuable platform for networking and promoting the country, will help increase tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka from Australia.
