Sri Lanka Tourism celebrated a milestone, surpassing 800,000 arrivals year-to-date, signalling sustained growth. Tourism Minister Harin Fernando praised the achievement, emphasizing its positive impact on the sector. In the first six days of August, 30,303 tourists entered, showcasing Sri Lanka as a preferred destination. India led with 4,608 visitors, followed by the UK, China, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Australia, and Russia.
Minister Fernando expressed contentment with the trajectory, affirming the government’s commitment to supporting tourism growth. He highlighted the diverse nationalities visiting, showcasing Sri Lanka’s global popularity. Analysts foresee continued growth, anticipating a bustling winter that benefits local businesses and employment.
With the winter season approaching, optimism surrounds the tourism sector. Fernando emphasized stakeholders’ dedication to providing a seamless visitor experience. Collaborative efforts between the government, tourism authorities, and local communities are expected to shape a vibrant future for Sri Lanka’s tourism. Minister Fernando is confident in achieving the 2 million arrivals target by December. Araliya Green Hills, which is one of the many hotels in Nuwara Eliya known to be one of the key destinations, are poised to play a crucial role in this growth.
