Sri Lanka Updates Entry Guidelines for Tourists – Provides Safe Stays for Travellers

While monitoring the global and local pandemic situation, Sri Lanka has continued to update its entry guidelines for tourists as it looks to draw more visitors this year. Amongst the significant changes made to the protocols last year was offering quarantine-free entry to fully vaccinated travelers who didn’t have to submit to an on-arrival COVID-19 PCR test either. However, they did (and still do) have to show a negative result of such a PCR test conducted within 72 hours of embarkation.

There were updates made this year too; from 1st January 2022, tourists (both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated) must pay for a 12 USD COVID-19 insurance that offers a one-month cover of 50,000 USD. Such moves have been put in place to help ensure the health and safety of visitors. After arrival, there are no restrictions for fully vaccinated travelers who can choose safe accommodation options too; these include hotels in Negombo, Sri Lanka, such as the well-placed Amagi Aria, that have adopted stringent hygiene and disinfection measures.
