Sri Lanka welcomes 75k tourists during first 20 days of September – The island’s tourism catches up 

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector shows signs of getting better as tourist arrivals for the first 20 days of September surpassed 75,000, achieving 62% of the month’s target. Provisional data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority revealed that from September 1st to 20th, the country welcomed 75,222 tourists. Sri Lanka aims to receive at least 120,201 visitors in September.

The daily average for September’s arrivals stands at approximately 3,761, contributing to a year-to-date cumulative tourist arrival figure of 979,540. India and the United Kingdom remain the top two tourist-generating countries, accounting for 26 per cent (19,767) and 7% (5,336) of the total arrivals, respectively. Germany ranks third with 7% (5,119), followed by the Russian Federation in fourth place with 7% (4,835). China rounds out the top five, representing 6% of total September arrivals with 4,338 tourists. Other significant markets include Australia, Israel, the Netherlands, France, and Spain. Out of all the things to do in Sri Lanka, taking a ride in an air taxi by Cinnamon Air has also grown in demand with wealthier tourists arriving in the country and spending more.
