If you’re travelling to Thailand on vacation, perhaps to stay at one of the luxury hotels Phuket has to offer such as the Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, know that the country has decided to tighten their COVID 19 testing procedures in order to minimise its presence within the nation. These measures were first introduced in late February, following the discovery of 99 new cases inside the country. Once the new screening started, close 200 PUIs were identified and lead to quarantine facilities.
According to the Department of Disease Control Deputy Director-General, Dr. Thanarak Plipat, the only way to combat the spread of this deadly new disease is to take aggressive measures and identify new infections as soon as possible. He went onto remark that this new testing was done primarily over concerns regarding the effectivity of the previous tests.
