Thailand Offers Tourists Easy Entry – Special Visa-Related Initiatives Also Launched

Continuing its tourism recovery, Thailand has removed many of the COVID-19-related entry protocols for tourists who can easily enjoy getaways here once more. From 1st July this year, arriving travellers need to only show proof of a full COVID-19 vacation or a negative result of a professional ATK or RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of travel. Such tourists are then free to travel around the country and enjoy safe accommodation including at a luxury hotel; Phi Phi Island is amongst the popular Thai destinations for holidays with properties like SAii Phi Phi Island Village adopting strict health and sanitisation measures as well.

As part of its update of entry requirements, the Thai government has also done away with the Thailand Pass registration process and the previous mandatory medical insurance coverage. To attract more visitors, the country has further launched several other initiatives too. From 1st September 2022, applications were opened for the new long-term resident visa programme that offers a 10-year visa (that can be extended) with added benefits to certain traveller categories. Additionally, visa extensions for tourists have also been granted covering the period from 1st October 2022 to 31 March 2023; these include 45-day visas for those entitled to visa exemption and 30-day visas for tourists who fall into the visa on arrival category.
