The 36th Bali Kites Festival which is held annually will take place from the 18th to 20th July this year. Usually held in the eastern coast of Padanggalak the event is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The dates of the event are selected according to the weather during that month. Travellers visiting the country could consider a stay at Samaja Villas Kunti which is featured among some of the best villas in Seminyak.
Hundreds of locals gather for the competition with colourful traditional kites of various shapes and sizes. Many international teams also attend the Bali Kites Festival. The festival started off as a means of thanking the gods for providing abundant harvest. Kites of different designs, mascots and three dimensional figures are featured at the festival. The take- off and the landing of the kites are accompanied by a gamelan orchestra adding a joyous spirit to the event.
