The Maldives opened its borders to international travellers ahead of any other destination. Every Maldives beach resort the likes of The Residence Maldives Dhigurah started welcoming international guests under strict health and hygiene measures and although its borders for Indian travellers were closed at first, the government and the travel officials decided to welcome Indian tourists when the COVID 19 spread was under control there.
However, according to the latest news, Indians have made this a way to immigrate to the USA. Since the USA has not yet permitted Indians to come to the country due to the pandemic condition, reports say that out of many transit hubs, Indians have chosen the Maldives as a means of escape to the USA. One major factor that has contributed to the Maldives being one of the top countries used as a transit hub is the fact that there is no mandatory quarantine period if you are tested negative on arrival. This lets the Indian tourists free to move about islands with ease!
