The Maldives Named the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination – A Time to Celebrate

In the recently concluded World Travel Awards – Africa and the Indian Ocean, the Maldives won the prestigious accolade of being named the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination. The awards ceremony took place in Mauritius on the first of last month and was hosted at the Sugar Beach Resort. The Maldives secured this award in a category that featured other famous tourist destinations including Mauritius and Seychelles.

This was not the only award garnered by the Maldives at the World Travel Awards; it was also announced as the winner of the Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination and Leading Dive Destination. This comes as an affirmation to the country’s growing popularity amongst tourists who have the option of staying at Maldives luxury resorts on private islands including properties such as The Residence Maldives by Cenizaro. Following its achievements at the awards, the Maldives is bound to see a further increase in tourist arrivals
