The Maldives recorded over 100,000 tourist arrivals in 2021 in the same month it launched the island-wide vaccination process to control the spread of COVID-19. The country recorded a total of 147,744 tourist arrivals by the 17th of February this year, and according to the Ministry of Tourism, around 29,591 of these arrivals have taken place between the first ten days of February. The industry aims to attract around 1.5 million tourists to some of the best resorts in Maldives the likes of Naladhu Private Island Maldives by the end of the year. For this, the country must maintain at least an average of 400 tourist arrivals per day throughout the year.
Under the present circumstances, the top source market for tourist arrivals in the Maldives is Russia, which is followed by India.
