The Maldives Surpasses 1.5 Million Arrivals – Tourism Continues to Surge Ahead

The Maldives has continued to enjoy an increase in tourists, with the country welcoming over 1.5 million visitors this year. As of 6th October 2024, this popular holiday destination had recorded 1,522,621 international arrivals which was a significant 9.5% increase when compared with the same period in 2023. At the time, the top source market for tourism was China followed by Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy respectively.

Looking for idyllic beaches, water sports and diverse experiences, travellers from these countries and others around the world continue to flock to the Maldives. Private beach villa options on island properties the likes of NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort continue to be a popular choice for family fun and romance as well. With the upcoming holiday season, the country can no doubt expect an influx of visitors, and it looks to be on track to achieving its year-end goal of recording two million arrivals.
