Tourism Malaysia has set goals for the year 2024 – Projecting optimistic goals

Tourism Malaysia is optimistic about achieving its ambitious goal of hosting 27.3 million foreign tourists this year, citing favourable conditions and key initiatives. The government’s charter flight matching grant, combined with a visa liberalization program and intensified international tourism promotions, serves as a foundation for this confidence. Ammar Abd Ghapar, the director-general of Tourism Malaysia, emphasized the success of surpassing last year’s target, with over 20 million foreign tourists welcomed.

The commitment of the government to the tourism sector was underscored by the presence of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing at the event. Ammar highlighted the significant impact of the visa liberalization plan for Chinese travellers, effective from December 1, 2023, resulting in increased inquiries and bookings from China to Malaysia, looking for things to do in Desaru and accommodations such as the Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas.
