Tourism Promotion Campaigns Launched by Sri Lanka – Five Nations Initially Targeted

As highlighted on the Travel Daily website on 28th October 2021, Sri Lanka launched a promotion campaign to boost tourism. Initially, this initiative which included long- and short-term promotions targeted five destinations from which the country hoped to attract more travellers; these were namely India, Britain, Russia, Germany and France. Apart from these nations, other campaigns have also been planned for the Middle East, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Such tourism promotion programmes coincided with the relaxing of entry requirements for foreign tourists last October; fully vaccinated travellers no longer had to undergo a PCR test on arrival and were free to stay at local hotels, resorts or villas in Sri Lanka. These included properties belonging to well-known hospitality brands like Boutique Collection by Amaya that offered safe stays amidst the island’s enchanting natural beauty.
