Traditional Leaf Fishing and St Andrew’s Day Festival in Vanuatu

Vanuatu Culture in Action

Each year the month of November holds a special meaning to it in Vanuatu. This is when the locals come together to take part in the customs of the original island people. Passed down through generations, the leaf fishing techniques have been preserved throughout the years. This is what the local people group up together to celebrate.

This event was held from the 28th to the 30th of November 2019 where even tourists were invited to get a feel of real island life and learn about these customs that have come down through the ages. Many attended this wonderful cultural show and were delighted to watch the locals in action. Those staying at many a Vanuatu resort the likes of Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu, for instance, were able to easily access the event and get a taste of the authentic island food.
