Travel Subsidies in Thailand to Extend Past April – Boosting the Tourism Industry

Much like in countries around the world, the tourism industry in Thailand was also severely hit with the spread of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. To sustain this industry, the Thai government introduced the “Travel Together” programme which offered subsidies on air tickets and hotel-room bookings. This was instrumental in encouraging more domestic tourism which gave a vital lifeline to the hospitality sector starved of foreign arrivals due to border closures.

To keep assisting the tourism industry, the Thai government has decided to continue this subsidy initiative beyond the previously planned end date which was expected to be 30th April 2021. This will also no doubt encourage domestic travellers who can visit places like Khon Kaen; hotel offers at such destinations including at properties like Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre feature special deals for Thai residents too, a further incentive to travel and enjoy safe holidays here.
