UAE braces for record number of tourists in 2023 – A favourable future in store ahead

The winds of change blow for the UAE, as the clouds part from the aftermath of COVID-19. The last year saw the end of COVID restrictions for many countries across the world, and Dubai in particular enjoyed one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in the world at 71 per cent, according to DET – hosting over 11 million visitors from January to October, a great windfall for any Deira hotel in Dubai. While UAE nationals did account for a significant portion (almost 30 per cent) of these guests, a sizeable portion of visitors hailed from the Indian subcontinent, along with the British, Egyptian, and Filipino nations.

The myriad number of events hosted in Abu Dhabi is considered part of the reason for the success of this trade. Looking at festivals such as the Sheikh Zayed festival – bringing around motorists and their fans along for the ride – and others like the Gulfood and IDEX events, there is little wonder as to why the tourism numbers keep rising through the years. The patrons of these events also tend to stay at hotels such as the Avani Deira Dubai Hotel, further contributing to the success of the economy in turn.
