From the 1st of April 2019, Sri Lanka introduced a new policy whereby multiple countries including those of the European Union (EU) were granted visa free entry for a six month period. This move is seen as a positive step in which to increase tourist arrivals to the island from these destinations. Those who fall under the “visa free entry” category can now enjoy travel to Sri Lanka without having to pre-register or pay any fees during this particular time.
The country has seen a boom in tourism with local tour specialists the likes of Nature Odyssey offering visitors a wide range of experiences in Sri Lanka. Wildlife tours, nature-based adventures, beachside getaways and cultural excursions are all part of what travellers can enjoy here. Apart from the EU nations, other countries that are eligible for visa free entry include the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea.
