Water Bottling Plant at Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas

Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, situated on the picturesque shores of Malaysia, has recently introduced an on-site water bottling plant as part of its commitment to sustainability. Since November 15th, 2022, the resort has taken significant strides towards reducing plastic waste and embracing a greener future. The water bottling plant was constructed in adherence to the standards set by the Ministry of Health and Eco Pure Waters Company Ltd. in Thailand, a renowned producer of drinking water systems and an approved vendor for Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas.

To minimize their carbon footprint and environmental impact, the team at Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas has implemented several meaningful initiatives. Each room, villa, and residence now features four one-litre glass bottles instead of plastic alternatives. In banquets and events, the resort offers 500ml water bottles. Additionally, rainwater is utilized for watering plants and cultivating vegetables in the resort’s Herbs Garden. The commitment to environmental stewardship extends beyond the premises, with monthly beach cleanups organized to prevent trash from being swept back into the ocean.

Christian Gerart, Anantara’s General Manager there, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in reducing carbon footprints for the well-being of our planet. He highlighted the staggering statistic of 8 million metric tons of plastic ending up in the ocean and stressed the significance of setting an exemplary model by keeping the pristine Desaru Coast clean. This project makes them one of the best beach resorts in Malaysia that care for the environment.
