Wild Glamping Gal Oya Wins Key Green Award – Property Given Highest Eco-Friendly Rating

At a ceremony held in the hill capital, Kandy, on 18th December last year, Wild Glamping Gal Oya received the prestigious Platinum Award from the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka. The accolade garnered the highest eco-friendly rating for this property which offers sustainable luxury camping experiences in Rathugala Village. One of the most unique places to stay in Gal Oya, it is part of the Thema Collection, a leading Sri Lankan hospitality brand which previously won the Green Building Award for its Aliya Resort & Spa.

Officially launched in December 2021, Wild Glamping Gal Oya offers 10 luxurious tents amidst stunning natural scenery along with an infinity pool, a restaurant, and diverse nature-based adventures. Constructed to support sustainable tourism, the property has adopted key initiatives like implementing good practice organic agriculture at its onsite farm, clean energy generation through solar panels and recycling of grey water to name a few. Apart from helping to preserve the delicate ecological balance, it also plays a part in supporting and empowering local communities including the indigenous inhabitants who are no strangers to living in harmony with the land.
