The significant efforts of one of the resorts in Maldives to preserve the country’s rich coral and marine biodiversity were brought to light recently. Published on the EIN Presswire website on 01st August 2023, the news item revealed that OBLU SELECT Sangeli has been engaged in concerted marine conservation efforts including a reef restoration programme which initially launched in January 2019. Under the initiative, this beach resort in Maldives established a coral nursery utilising more than 150 metal frames which has led to flourishing coral growth and marine life.
Additionally, the resort has implemented many other initiatives too; these include creating ghost net bracelets repurposed from lost or abandoned fishing nets which are very dangerous for marine life and getting involved in turtle conservation, partnering with the Olive Ridley Project and Marine Savers. The property has procedures in place to protect sea turtle hatchlings as well, while it has also installed a rooftop solar system and utilised energy-efficient technologies.
