As quick-service restaurants (QSRs) show increases by 1% in May, the outlook so far for the industry is looking stable according to reports from Circana, a consumer-behavior advisor. A sign of fast recovery from post-pandemic numbers, these types of businesses were shown to have been hit severely due to a massive decrease in foot traffic. QSRs like Smashburger, popular for its signature burgers, show an impressive increase in comparison to full-service restaurants (FSRs), both independent and large chains.
In comparison, these FSRs have been recovering much slower, not hinting at the growth of their quicker counterparts, where large chains and independent restaurants suffered a drop of 1% and 3% respectively, showing their injuries from steep pandemic losses. Both these variants of restaurants, according to Circana, have shown impressive methods of adapting via on-demand services and improving value and experience.
