The antics of Punch and Judy have for centuries entertained young and old alike and it is little wonder that they have their very own festival! The Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival is an annual event held in London each year to mark the anniversary of when Samuel Pepys first saw a Punch and Judy-type puppet show in the capital. This year’s event was held on the 10th of May at St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden and those planning to be a part of next year’s festival and in search of a London boutique hotel within easy reach of the venue can stay at The Halkin by COMO, London. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival began with a lively procession accompanied by brass band. As part of the event a service was held within St Paul’s Church, with Mr Punch himself gracing the pulpit. Following the service, visitors got a chance to enjoy Punch & Judy puppet shows and a wide range of other family entertainment.
