A festival that celebrated since ancient times, the fire walking festival takes place at the Temple of Munnesvaram in Chilaw. The festival which is usually celebrated in the month of August or September is a major event that celebrates God Shiva. Devotees dwelling across the isle visit the Hindu temple to worship Lord Shiva.
