The Gaborone Game Reserve is once more open to the public, giving visitors a chance to view a variety of Botswana’s indigenous wildlife. The park which had been initially closed due to infrastructure maintenance reopened in June; even though it only encompasses around five square kilometres, it is one of the country’s busiest wildlife reserves. With its location in the capital within easy reach of hotels in Gaborone including properties such as Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino, the park is a well-known tourist attraction too.
While the Gaborone Game Reserve is now open, the public has been advised to follow COVID-19 protocols. In addition to this, the use of picnic sites and consuming alcohol within the park have been suspended for the time being. The reserve nevertheless still offers much to enjoy for those who visit including getting to observe wildebeest, warthogs, gemsboks, kudus, various birdlife and more.
