At the Qatar Economic Forum 2023 Powered by Bloomberg, industry leaders discussed the fact that the travel industry is rebounding following the pandemic. The forum which was held from 23rd to 25th May 2023 in Doha featured a special session called “Tourism finally opening up” with a panel of key speakers; these included the Chairman and CEO of Accor Group, Sébastien Bazin; Founder and Chairman of Minor International, William Ellwood Heinecke; and CEO of Capital A, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes. Amongst the factors highlighted was that the return of Chinese travellers this year will further boost tourism. The demand for air travel, the impact on budget carriers and flight capacity were discussed as well with a positive outlook for the travel and tourism industry.
Another aspect that was put in the spotlight was bleisure travel (a combination of business and leisure) as an emerging trend which has been further heightened with the popularity of remote working. Destinations such as Qatar’s capital continue to be a popular choice for both business and leisure with diverse accommodation options on offer too including serviced apartments; Doha continues to attract travellers the world over for stays at properties like Al Najada Doha Hotel Apartments by Oaks as the country gets its tourism industry back on track.
