Il Mare, the Italian restaurant at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort became the first Sri Lankan restaurant to win the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator Magazine. Tangalle restaurants are known to offer tourists a chance to enjoy delicious meals by a charming beachside vista but the Il Mare takes this experience a step beyond and offers guests a chance to pair world class wine with their dishes. Regarded as the ‘world’s best guide’ to selecting wine, the Wine Spectator Magazine is a prestigious publication. This year, the magazine selected 3,595 restaurants from 72 countries across the globe for their excellent wine programmes. Wine Spectator Magazine winners are known to pair their wines to their meals thematically and Il Mare continues to perform this task exceptionally well.
