The Jewels 2016 Gem & Jewellery Exhibition and Competition of Sri Lanka took place over three days from the 16th to the 18th of December, just last year. Its main aim was to increase awareness about the jewellery and gem industry in the country. It was aimed at companies from across the industry’s supply chain. Participation was open to jewellers such as Ayura Studio, gem dealers and secondary service suppliers who form part of the gem and jewellery industry. The event also invited scholars on the subject to participate.
Several top jewellery brands took this opportunity to exhibit their collections. Some of the items that were on display included silver, gold and platinum jewellery sets. Gemstones of more than 50 different varieties were also on display. Visitors were treated to sparkling views of rubies, diamonds, moonstones, amethysts and sapphires among others.
