Phuket, after over one year of border closure, said hello to international tourists in July 2021. After observing the results and the feedback of the travellers, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) decided to reopen Samui as well adhering to the same health and safety guidelines. This was named ‘Samui Plus Model’ and every resort in Koh Samui the likes of Avani+ Samui Resort was benefitted greatly through this scheme.
The officials decided to have three flights travelling from Bangkok to Samui per day, and this also had attracted many foreign travellers as well. A group of journalists first came to Samui to cover the situation and the officials now believe that the tourist community will come and explore Samui after seeing the improved conditions and the measures they have taken to ensure the safety of everyone.
