The country of Malaysia is reportedly attempting to achieve a target of 3.2 million Muslim tourist visits by this year, according to the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. Alluding to the Islamic Tourism Month that occurred this past August, the Deputy Minister, Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, reported that 20% of total foreign visitors to the country are accounted for by Islamic visitors, adding that the event itself marks an important event for both Muslims and Malaysia.
Comparing this target figure to the last year—a total of 2.1 million visitors—it is an ambitious yet ultimately progressive decision considering the Muslim population within the country. Several tourist hotspots and religious sites of significance around the country can be expected to receive an influx of these visitors, where brands like the Travelodge Ipoh have already implemented amazing Ipoh hotel deals to maximise future profits and make it easier to welcome tourists.
