This year saw the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation launching a destination marketing campaign in collaboration with TravelBag, a prominent name amongst air and travel service providers. The campaign which kick-offed in May 2023 will run up to April next year and is expected to reach an audience of more than 2.5 million; it covers print, social media and online channels and is primarily targeting travellers in the United Kingdom which is a key tourism source market for the country.
With such destination promotion campaigns in place, the Maldives has been welcoming an increased number of tourists in 2023. From 1st January to 24th September this year, it had recorded 1,331,310 arrivals which was more than the 1,168,084 for the same period in 2022. The top source market was Russia, followed by India, China, and the UK respectively. For getaways in the Maldives, luxury resort properties on private islands continue to be a popular choice for travellers. These include options such as Dhigali Maldives which provide the best experiences of this destination that is gearing up for the busy end-of-the-year holiday season.
