True to form, the Maldives rang in the New Year in style with locals and tourists alike celebrating the end of 2016 and the dawn of 2017. In the capital Male, there were glittering fireworks, while streets and houses were decorated in lights with certain bars and restaurants having their own News Year functions too. The many resorts Maldives has to offer each hosted special events as well like the beach and cocktail parties that were held at PER AQUUM Niyama Maldives. Many such parties saw international DJs spinning the latest tracks, while live dance, song or drum performances were also seen at some events. During the New Year festivities, certain organisers also offered distinctive local dishes as part of their celebrations, giving participants a chance to enjoy good food, great company and the promise of new beginnings.
