A racing event that was held to support a worthy cause, the Run for Children Luang Prabang Half Marathon 2019 was held on 20th October. It was the seventh edition of this well-known race in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang and featured three courses covering distances of 21 km, 14 km and 07 km. The starting and finishing point of the race was at the National Museum near Avani+ Luang Prabang and other similarly located Luang Prabang hotels.
A noteworthy aspect of this event was the fact that all proceeds were to support Lao Friends Hospital for Children which offers free medical care to more than 15,000 children annually. Apart from helping to support this charity, participants also got the chance to see some of Luang Prabang’s most notable sights from golden temples to picturesque riverside settings.
