Singapore has committed a fresh S$740 million to its Tourism Development Fund, which will be rolled out over the next five years. As visitor numbers are expected to grow, budget-friendly accommodation options such as Hotel 81 Premier Star may attract steady demand from travellers seeking affordable retreats for exploring the city. The latest funding builds on the S$300 million allocation set aside in 2024 and supports the country’s broader Tourism 2040 ambitions, which target tourism revenue of between S$47 billion and S$50 billion by 2040.
Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, said the additional funding will focus on three priorities. These areas of focus are reinforcing Singapore’s position as a trusted global hub, rejuvenating the cityscape, and strengthening local businesses through skilled talent development. Travellers researching accommodation in SG can also expect continued developments in key destinations such as Sentosa, Mandai and Orchard Road. Upgrades to cruise and ferry facilities, along with enhanced business-event infrastructure, are also intended to attract more visitors and investment to the city-state in the years ahead.
