Sri Lanka Tourism Calls for Comprehensive Aviation Policy — Aims to Achieve 5m Arrivals by 2029

In a bid to make Sri Lanka’s tourism more robust than ever before, Sri Lankan Tourism  Development Authority Chairman, Priantha Fernando, stressed the importance of an effective framework for its aviation policy. This, as he proclaimed, is one of the most important pathways to take to realise Sri Lanka’s ambitious goal of having 5 million tourists visiting the country by the year 2029.

The first steps towards a comprehensive aviation policy were taken by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in an effort to boost the economy and to synchronise the tourism and aviation policies, which were quite incompatible with each other. With these renewed efforts, however, tourists could become more enticed to visit the country, as this makes travelling considerably easier, whether it is a trip to the west coast to places like Mirissa. Water sports can also be enjoyed in this area, with stays at properties such as Sri Sharavi Beach Villas & Spa making for a much better experience.
