Taylor Swift’s much-awaited concert tour in Singapore, which is scheduled to take place in March, has caused a travel frenzy across Southeast Asia. According to Amadeus, a travel technology company, there has been a significant surge in travel searches for Singapore, which is the only stop for Swift’s tour in the region. Over half a million Asian fans are eager to attend the concert and have been willing to spend upwards of $1,200 each on bundles that include tickets and hotel stays.
Sarah Wan, Klook’s general manager for Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, noted that there has been an enthusiastic response to the concert announcement. Agoda, on the other hand, reported a significant increase in searches from Thailand for accommodations, making Thailand the top country searching for stays in Singapore. The surge in travel searches has contributed to an 18% average week-over-week growth in travel interest in Singapore. The excitement surrounding Taylor Swift’s concert announcement as well as that of Coldplay has driven this growth, and travellers are predominantly opting for shorter trips and weekend getaways to experience the concert extravaganza. Accommodation spots in Singapore are gearing up for the influx of visitors for the concert, with people opting for stays at a hotel in Changi the likes of Hotel 81 Changi due to its comfort and convenience.
