The new government in the Maldives, that came to power in 2018 aims to add almost USD 3.23 million to the annual marketing budget of the tourism industry. Tourism in the Maldives plays a big role, especially considering the number of top resorts in Maldives, the likes of The Nautilus Maldives and the experiences they offer.

The proposed budget is for the year 2020, and a parliamentary select committee reviewed the budget in December. Over the past few years, many of the uninhabited islands have been leased to foreign and local resort developers – with numerous international brands entering the market. The current number of resorts is roughly 140, and the number is set to increase by another 20 resorts.
