UK Visitors Drive Up Tourism Figures in the Maldives – Gaining More from the UK Market

Maldives has seen a 9.3% increase in the number of visitors from the UK arriving in the country in February this year. taking into account the first 2 months of the year, Maldives has entertained a 20,804 travellers from the UK amounting to a 9.4% increase in the number of tourists from UK compared to the same period of the previous year.

The Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation stated that the UK is a tough market and that they are satisfied to see the improvement in the number of UK tourists in the country. Mohamed Haris (MD) also mentioned that more than 7% of the visitors in total are from the UK. A new runway and terminal will be coming up at the Velana International Airport, this is just one of many improvements being made to the tourism industry in Maldives.
