OMA’s Qatar National Library Opens in Doha – A Place of Learning

Designed by the prestigious Dutch Firm, OMA, the Qatar National Library in Doha along with the Public and University Libraries, form a part of an extensive development project called the ‘’Education City’’ which includes satellite campuses from the most premier universities and learning institutions from around the globe.

A stunning work of architecture, space has been designed, in such a way that all the books and shelves can be seen in a panorama, according to the OMA’s co-founder, Rem Koolhaas. The place of learning also houses a set of extremely valuable manuscripts about the Arab – Islamic civilisation as well as almost a million books. Ample space is available to accommodate thousands of readers in an area consisting of 42,000 m2. The library can also be reached easily by tourists staying in luxury hotels in Doha including the likes of Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara.
