Vietnam is poised to elevate its tourism sector to a key economic driver. A newly approved plan for tourism development aims to significantly increase both domestic and international tourist arrivals over the next two decades. The country is targeting 25 to 28 million foreign visitors by 2025 and a staggering 35 million by 2030. Domestic tourism is also a priority, with a target of 130 million travellers by 2025 and 160 million by 2030.
To achieve these ambitious goals, Vietnam is diversifying its tourism offerings. While maintaining traditional markets, the country is actively pursuing new tourism segments such as sports, adventure, and golf. Domestic tourism is also being revitalised to boost overall industry growth. By 2045, this industry is projected to become a cornerstone of the Vietnamese economy, generating substantial revenue as well as helping to preserve cultural heritage and creating more employment opportunities.
