Recent reports reveal that a group of students in collaboration with a faculty from New York University Abu Dhabi unveiled the first design for a Leed certified sustainable agricultural tourism destination in the UAE. The reports further reveal that the design was displayed at the 19th Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) that was held in the emirate of Dubai from 23rd to 25th October, 2017.
The team from NYUAD said to have combined the latest opportunity in desert farming with the high food security goals set forth by the UAE in order to redefine sustainable living while utilising the local resources. The emirate is a popular vacation destination that offers everything be it a lavish shopping experience, water sports, desert adventures, resorts or an Abu Dhabi pool villa to stay with options such as Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts. The design for the Leed certified accommodation involves several aspects as passive design strategies and futuristic infrastructure among other aspects.
