Highlighting the importance of sustainable development in Phuket, Prajin Jantong who is the Air Chief Marshal and Thailand’s Air Force Commander In Chief, has brought to the forefront the need of maintaining an eco friendly balance as well. Amongst the issues cast into the spotlight was the fact that Phuket has a limited capacity when it comes to resources and thus any development activity should look to also conserve and protect these resources. Prajin Jantong also brought into the spotlight issues such as the enlargement of the Phuket Airport and the proposed plan for developing national transport hubs. This need for maintaining a balance is also a key requirement in the hospitality industry on the island and Phuket luxury hotels such as Anantara Phuket Layan Resort & Spa who have initiated eco-friendly practices in keeping with Green Globe standards is an ideal example of this.
