The inaugural Elephant Boat Race & River Festival organised by Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas will take place in Bangkok from 29th to 31st March 2019. It will not only celebrate the country’s national animal, the Asian elephant but also help to raise awareness and funds to support in their conservation through the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF). The festival and boat race will take place on the Chao Phraya River’s west bank next to Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort; it will feature international and local teams engaged in traditional dragon boat racing on boats that have special elephant based designs and themes.
Easy to reach from Bangkok resorts by the riverside, the event also features an on-land festival with concerts, beer gardens, a wide range of food and a special Old Siam themed Ladies Day. A part of Anantara’s celebration of Thai National Elephant Day which falls on 13th March, this festival is expected to offer lots of family fun and help in elephant conservation.
