Residents of Kandy united on the 2nd of September to enjoy a night of soulful music, with legendary and contemporary artists rocking the stage. The event was held at the Bogambara Prison in Kandy, an abandoned prison complex renovated into a tourist attraction and entertainment zone.
Yugayana saw several famous artists grace the stage, powered by the experienced backing of the band Aloh, spearheaded by iconic violinist Dinesh Subasinghe. The claps were deafening and the cheers were thundering, as veterans, Rookantha Goonatilake and Senaka Batagoda sang their classics, including hits like ‘Anganawo’ and ‘Api Kawruda’. Also accompanying these titans of industry were talented newbloods like Ridma Weerawardena and Supun Perera. Kandy saw a surge of visitors to an already impressive inflow, as locals and foreigners alike flocked to the region to attend the concert, enjoying stays at distinguished hotels in Sri Lanka, with properties of Aitken Spence Hotels being among the most booked.
